The Pittakat Library (library) is located on the southern side of Ar Zar Ni Street, the lower terrace (or platform) at the eastern entrance of the Shwedagon Pagoda, next to Pikelone Street. It is a three-story building. Previously, the Pittakat Library was situated on the middle floor of the large Buddhist museum in the northwest corner of Shwedagon Pagoda. In 2013, as the museum was to be upgraded, the Pittakat Library was moved to the east side to the Daw Lhasin Pittakat Library and renamed the Pittakat Library (library). It was officially opened on September 10, 2013.
The Pittakat Library (library) houses a total of 13,253 books, including Pittakat volumes, Buddhist scriptures, religious texts, and literature on knowledge, aesthetics, and history. It also holds 636 books written in English and other languages. There are 1,637 issues of Paya, Purapoksa, and Makyeisey Kamwaw\u00e1. On the ground floor of the Pittakat Library (library), there is a reading room with newspapers, magazines, and journals. The middle floor contains Paya, Purapoksa, and Kamwaw\u00e1 books, including collections on astronomy, medicine, history, metaphysics, etiquette, minerals, and various types of Purapoksa and Makyeisey Kamwaw\u00e1.
The books include a collection of 230 types of Saddhamma (Dhamma) with a lifespan of 358 years, and 198 types of Atthasalini Dhamma with a lifespan of 251 years. Additionally, the library holds Buddhist scriptures and texts on knowledge and aesthetics. The top floor of the Pittakat Library contains Pittakat volumes written in Pali, English, Chinese, and Japanese, as well as historical and religious texts.<\/p>\n
