The revered Kassapa Buddha, who resided in the Gandhaku\u1e6di building located within the Western \u0100r\u0101ma Shrine of the Shwedagon Pagoda, was initially represented in a Pa\u00f1caloh\u0101 image in the Bh\u016bmiphassa Mudr\u0101 posture. However, on March 6, 1931, a fire broke out in the Western Shrine of the Shwedagon Pagoda, and the original statue was lost in the flames. Consequently, a new stone-carved image was created and enshrined in the newly built Gandhaku\u1e6di building, where it is still worshiped today. In this Bhaddakappa, Kassapa Buddha was the third of the four Buddhas to have attained enlightenment. Additionally, the sacred bathing robe of Kassapa Buddha is enshrined within the sacred relic chamber of the Shwedagon Pagoda.<\/p>\n
