The columns and window panels were decorated with gold and glass inlays. Inside the main hall, wooden carvings depict various scenes from the life of the Buddha, including Mara’s daughters attempting to distract the Buddha, the defeat of the ogre A\u1e37\u0101vaka, and the Omm\u0101dant\u012b J\u0101taka. These intricate carvings are part of the grand Northern Adoration Hall, where the Gotama Buddha Statue is enshrined.
\n\tIn 1937, the glass-inlaid golden columns were damaged and subsequently repaired. During the comprehensive restoration project in 2005, further work was done to repair the window panels using glass inlays. In 2008, Cyclone Nargis caused significant damage to the central pavilion, with two tiers of the roof collapsing.
